World Federation of Neurology


Sofia, Bulgaria, October 17-20, 2013

The Meeting was held by Neurosonology Research Group (NSRG) of the World Federation of Neurology and the Bulgarian Society of Neurosonology and Cerebral Hemodynamics. The aim of the NSRG meetings is to offer a platform for experts from all over the world to come together in order to talk about the present state in the field of Neurosonology, to push teaching programs and to update and discuss guidelines and standards. It was the continuing of the successful tradition of bringing together worldwide specialists who are interested in Neurosonology and therapeutic ultrasound in neurology. Meeting contributed the implementation of the advanced ultrasound technology and latest guidelines to clinical practice. According to varying circumstances every NSRG meeting has its own character, different composition of participants and different predispositions for Neurosonology. This makes each meeting so exiting.

The participants from all over the world had the opportunity to enjoy the history and the beauty of Sofia – one of the oldest capitals in Europe.

Challenges Before Young Doctors

The project aimed informing professional audience of young doctors from the countries that border with the European Union to achieve better prevention by formal and/or informal training and education at all levels of society.

The training was organized by Bulgarian Society of Neurosonology and Cerebral Hemodynamics (BSNCH) as host and applicant (Bulgaria), Medical University of Graz (Austria), Georgian Society of Neurosonology and Cerebral Hemodynamics – GSNCH (Georgia) and Serbian National Society for Neuroangiology (Serbia), actively involved in the preparation, planning and implementation of the activities. The cooperation and commitments of each organization are based on existing traditional partnerships within the European and the World Federations of Neurology. The profile and experience of applicant organizations as well as the high qualification and professionalism of the members guarantee the successful implementation of the objectives and high quality of the training.

The Georgian delegation was presented by 10 members of GSNCH.

Participants in the training adopted a Memorandum which will be a base for further development and a message to the political stakeholders for health promotion in their countries.
