Anesthesiology, Resuscitation and Emergency Medicine
Anesthesiology is a branch of clinical medicine that encompasses the complete pre-intra and post-operative anesthetic care during surgical operations or diagnostic manipulations (where anesthesia is indicated), management of the post-anesthetic (awakening) period, as well as monitoring and treatment of critically ill patients (surgical and therapeutic profile) while they require it.
Resuscitation is the process of correcting acute physiological disorders in a patient (for example, respiratory failure or cardiac arrest). It is an important part of intensive care, trauma surgery, and emergency medicine.
“Emergency Medicine” is a multidisciplinary specialty that involves the management of patients with acute or exacerbated chronic complaints of varying severity, conducting differential diagnosis, relieving/stabilizing complaints, making decisions about patient disposition, and providing appropriate recommendations. The working area of an emergency medicine physician is the emergency medicine department/service and pre-hospital service providers. The management of patients in this department/service takes place within a maximum of 24 hours.
The role of Anesthesiologists in Modern Medicine
Anesthesiologists are an important part of modern medicine, ensuring the safety and comfort of patients during operations, painful procedures, and childbirth. They select the type of anesthesia, monitor the patient’s condition during surgery, manage pain in the postoperative period, participate in resuscitation measures, and work in the intensive care unit. Their role is crucial in modern medical practice.
